Thermal injury in tonsils and its relation to postoperative pain—a histopathological and clinical study

Abstract Objectives The aim of this study was to compare thermal injury and depth necrosis using different monopolar power settings in partial tonsillectomy correlate the results with postoperative pain score. Results included a total 15 patients mean age 5.7 ± 2.57 years. significantly higher for 25 W side (0.973 0.613) versus (0.553 0.218) ( p = 0.023). score showed no significant differences between both sides. Conclusion histopathologic is microdissection comparison W; however, it does not seem level. Apparently, can be safely used pediatric intracapsular tonsillectomies, without added morbidity despite deeper tissue observed tonsil.
